Commonly Found-  Elephant, Hippopotamus, Narwhal, Sea Lion,

Wild Boar, Fossilized Mammoth/walrus, Africa, Burma, India, Sumatra

Common Colors- White, brown, tan, cream, grey

Hardness- 2 - 3

Special Care-  Ivory has become very scarce due to hunting and

endangered animal laws, and in some cases may be illegal.  Care

should be taken when purchasing to make sure that the ivory

was obtained in a legal manor.  Ivory is organic and very porous,

it should generally not be worn as an "everyday" piece.  It should

be kept dry and clean as much as possible and avoid chemicals at

all costs (chlorine, household cleaners etc.)

Mystical Healing Properties-  As Ivory is made of bone or tusk it is often used

for healing of bone, joint, and tooth problems of all kinds.  It is also believed

to benefit the skin and heart.
