Special Care- A member of the Quartz group, Jasper is one of the most

common gemstones.  Jasper basically describes any quarts stone through

which light cannot pass, or a quartz stone that is opaque. Jasper is reasonably

hard and impervious to chemicals and the elements.

 

Mystical Healing Properties-  In ancient times jasper was often carved

into scarabs and cameos.  Jasper is often used to relax the wearer and

provide him or her with a feeling of peace and wholeness.  Jasper is

believed to provide insight into situations that could be risky to the wearer.

Yellow jasper is used to protect travelers while red is used to bring good health

to the wearer.  It is used by some Native Americans to ward off drought and

to ward off snakebite.  Jasper has also been used to protect against illnesses of

the eyes, internal organs, and hearing loss.  Jasper is known as "the mother

of all stones".
