Common Colors-  Colorless, yellow, red-brown, pale blue,

light pink, light green

Hardness-  8

Special Care-  Modern technology has made topaz a rather confused stone.

Out of the ground topaz is typically dark yellow, brownish, or light orange.

Only through special treatments does topaz take on the popular blue color for

which it is commonly known today.  Care must be taken with some of the

mystical topaz varieties as it is just a coating that is placed over the stone

and over time it will wear off or be scratched away.  We carry only solid-colored

or un-dyed topaz's so there is no fear of the color coming off.

Mystical Healing Properties-  The un-dyed golden or natural topaz is generally thought

to increase mental growth, improved leadership abilities, and aid in decision making.

Physically it is believed that if a natural topaz is placed on a wound it will greatly

quicken the healing process.  Blue topaz is said to calm nerves, especially for

public speaking.  Blue topaz is also thought to improve creativity.  Topaz of all colors

has been used to treat ailments of the eyes and throat diseases.
